THE SNOW BEFORE CHRISTMAS

December 2009...
a month that will be remembered!
I turned 62 in December 2009.
That is a milestone for me.....
will be getting my first SS check
in February....yea!
I did a little Christmas decorating...
just wasn't in the mood this year...
some troubles in our family.
Then came the BIG snow!
We were without power for four days.
We used a small Coleman propane heater
for heat...and used our Coleman camp stove
for what little cooking we did.
We burned a lot of candles
and used a propane lantern for light.
We were without water for one day.
One part of all this I enjoyed.....
we played dominoes by lantern
and candle light at night before
burying under the covers.
Below, I will share some photos...
I'm trying to learn to use my new camera.
The bird feeders were busy.

The trees were beautiful.

Huey didn't mind the snow at all.

Just look at all the snow on the fire pit.

There are still spots of snow here and there.
But, don't you just love it when everything is
all covered in a thick blanket of snow?
I do.

Hi Shirley,
Sorry for the power loss, but you sure took some beautiful pictures.I haven't blogged lately as I have had company, but wanted to stop by and to say that I am praying for you and your family to have a most blessed and joy filled New Year.
Blessings,
Sue

Hello! I love your snow pictures. I we have a couple of things in common-I live in the area and have a dog named Hewie! I just spell it differently! We managed to keep our power somehow during the big snow. Happy New Year!

Congratulations on that 62 milestone! The SS check will make things a little easier.
The big snows come with lots of worries....bad roads, power outtages...
But you are right it is beautiful to see. I think the wet snows, you know, the ones that stick to the sides of things are beautiful. Especially on the trees!
Happy New Year, Shirley!!

Beautiful pictures and the one with the red bird is my favorite........ So looking forward to the new year with all my blog buddies and especially you. You have been a blessing in my life (I finally discovered who sent the magazines) and I look forward to sharing and praying together in 2010.

Sending joy and warm hugs for the new year.

I LOVE your bird pictures...how awesome.
Yes, sounds like you got some of what we got. We didn't loose power..but many around us did. I am glad you had some neat time together.
We still have snow on the ground from two weeks ago...expecting more this week.

Glad you are learning to use your new camera...still learning to use mine too....so many different settings!
